Grant, born in Toronto, is an outgoing, highly motivated and detail-oriented professional. Grant's maternal grandparents emigrated from Finland to North America early in the last century, he has an inherent understanding of Finnish culture and tradition and knows the importance of understanding one's roots - especially to second and third generation families. The first Finnish Heritage Tour was created in 1988 when members of his family wished to travel to Finland. Together, they explored a country they had never yet ever had the opportunity of visiting before - but knew the culture and language intimately. With a broad tourism industry background and intensive studies in Gerontology, Grant strongly believes this is a natural marriage of skills in understanding unique needs and in providing the best travelling experience for all ages to first-handedly visit the land of their forefathers.
With many years' experience in the travel industry, Grant has designed a variety of international and domestic specialty tour programs. As well, he has been tour director to most worldwide destinations and has facilitated corporate incentive programs domestically and internationally. Some of the major tour companies he has worked for include: Tauck Tours, Horizon & Co. (Horizon Holidays), Hanover Holidays, and Gateways International.
